ABOUT STORY + COLOUR

We are Story + Colour, a husband and wife team, who love meeting people, love weddings and above all, love the love! We started Story + Colour not long after getting married ourselves in 2012, when the wedding high had worn off and we missed planning and creating for our own big day.

We love shooting weddings as no two couples or weddings are the same, and all of our clients are celebrating something amazing – who wouldn’t want to spend a day at work surrounded by love, joy, dancing, bubbles and food?! People work so hard to make their day unique and beautiful and we’re so happy to capture it for them to keep forever. We’re always thrilled when we get messages back about how it feels like reliving the day each time they look through the images, including some of the details and moments that they missed – that’s our main goal!

I got the photography bug during university shooting with black and white film. I would spend long nights in a makeshift darkroom in the living room, developing my black and white films until the early hours of the morning. Photography for me has always been about documenting the moments and telling a story, taking photos that create a narrative, and evoke emotion and I hope my relaxed, friendly nature comes through in my work.

No job beats being a London wedding photographer – from scouting shoot locations in the city I know best and love most, to watching my clients celebrate their love surrounded by the city’s architecture, experiencing different cultures and sampling the amazing array of cuisines London offers – there really is nowhere like it and I am so lucky to have it on my doorstep.

DAN

I am a graphic designer by day (and quite often by night) and help Dan run Story + Colour – it really is a business that comes from both our hearts. You might also find me out and about with my Lomography camera, but my framing is awful so the results are mixed. I love designing for weddings, and mourned the absence of ours once it was over – dainty details and creative crafts float my boat!
 
We live in leafy Hertfordshire, just 20 minutes from central London – it’s the best of both worlds, and we enjoy both walks in our local area with our daughter Fearne, and wildlife galor, as well as exploring and working in London several times a week.

Thank you both so so so much for all your hard work making our day so spectacular. Laura, your work was amazing, you made everything so easy for us. You completely ‘got’ our vision and all the printed materials were perfect. Dan, the pictures are gorgeous. Everyone we have showed them to think they are brilliant. They captured our very relaxed party and we saw all the things that we had forgotten, or missed. Everyone just looks so happy. We LOVE them.
