Tithe Barn Yorkshire wedding
No, Peter and Rachel are not models that I hired for the day. They’re a real-life couple that are completely in love.
This was a fun one for me, not only because Peter and Rachel’s was the first wedding at the new Tithe Barn but also because I got to visit Skipton. A town that I visited regularly as a young boy to see my great aunt.
From Skipton, we made our way to the Tithe barn which overlooks the beautiful Bolton Abbey. A great view for the guests and a lovely location for some couple shots at sunset.
You really couldn’t ask for more!

Bryony and Craig were married at
Shustoke Barn, Warwickshire in March this year, on the first sunny weekend after the early spring snow. It was a relaxed, boho-inspired wedding day, with outfits and flowers in blues and greys. We were so in love with Bryony’s dress and the gorgeous flowers at this one – not to mention the atmospheric Shustoke Barn, owned by family run
Cripps & Co, who have several beautiful barns we’ve had the pleasure of shooting at (including the first ever wedding at the
Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey – we can’t wait to share this wedding!). Being a wedding photographer means Dan gets to travel to the best places!
We’re so lucky to have this wedding featured on

Wedding
Flowers really help set the scene on a wedding day – rustic, classic, contemporary, understated, oversized, multi-coloured, full of texture, full of colour, simple or uniform – with so many options and styles to choose from, it’s certainly one of the most fun parts of wedding planning and there’s something to suit everyone. We’ve taken a look back over some of our favourite floral moments and compiled them here for your wedding day inspiration.
Grace + Tom
This bright, vibrant, sunny wedding could only have bold, vivid blooms to match. Broadly yellow, orange and blue, Grace’s bouquet was also peppered with pinks and reds. Big sunflower heads sat amongst orange roses, freesias, iris’, daisies crocosmia and lisianthus creating an eclectic, fun and fragrant arrangement.

Cath + Will
This one doesn’t include any flowers at all, yet is as stunning as the rest. Cath + Will opted for various complimentary green foliage, including bay and fern leaves. And if a bouquet of greens wasn’t enough, how about that bridal crown?

Erin + Chris
Erin’s autumn-hued bouquet had the most elegant finishing touch of two pheasant feathers, which sat along side stunning thistles, red roses chrysanthemum, eucalyptus leaves and rosehips, creating a gorgeous array of textures, scale and colours.

Olivia + Lawrence
The peaches and cream blooms were the icing on the cake of Olivia + Lawrence’s wedding in the woods. Snapdragons, roses, thistles formed the basis of the bridal bouquet, with english cottage garden geraniums, dahlias and mint in pots and planters around the garden reception venue.

Victoria + Adam
Victoria and Adam’s flowers were true to their laid back tipi festival wedding – simply english lavender across the bouquets, buttonholes and potted plants on the long trestle tables. They created them themselves, and the result couldn’t be more perfect.

Stephie + Olly
This wedding not only has the most stunning bouquet but the venue was transformed into a breathtaking walk through an English country garden – lisianthus, stocks, love in a mist, anemones, iris’ and roses featured, paired beautifully with eucalyptus and fern leaves. They complemented the Victorian, London pub venue perfectly.

Sarah + Stuart
There were three beautiful floral focal points in Sarah + Stuart’s big day – the Indian-summer inspired bouquets, the stunning flower arch and Sarah’s delicate floral crown.
For us, the floral arch was the more stunning of all – rich hydrangea heads in varying shades of blues, purples and pinks, married with vintage roses and vines of lush green leaf made for a ceremony location to remember.

Rachel + Ben
Another autumn-hued floral theme, Rachel and her bridal party had gorgeous over-sized bouquets with eucalyptus, wheat, orange leaves and chrysanthemums which were mirrored elegantly in the buttonholes.

Natalie + Steve
Natalie’s flowers spanned a small portion of the colour spectrum but in the most intricate and textured detail. Peonies, scabious, freesias, roses and love-in-a-mist and forget-me-nots all combined to create a stunning pink and purple display for both the bouquets and the table decorations.

Fran + Matt
For their October wedding, Fran + Matt opted for white and golden hues. Fran isn’t a huge flower enthusiast but her love for plants led her to choose to keep the bouquets simple and decorate the tables with little succulents in a variety of gold pots and geometric terrariums.

Bryony + Craig
Bryony’s brief to florist Bloom Fleuriste, was to have white and blue wild flowers with lots of greenery – she exceeded expectations and blew Bryony away when she revealed her bouquet on the day. The bridesmaid’s had smaller versions of the main bouquet, which included a stunning hydrangea head, anemones, astrantia, ranunculus and even a striking succulent.

Ally is the most organised bride, no, most organised person, we’ve ever met. Her wedding to Paul was our longest standing booking for photography for quite some time, and we also helped make their vision for their wedding invites and later the table plan and a few other bits and bobs for the day, a reality. They got engaged in New York, so the table names were based on their favourite places they had visited, and by contrast their ceremony and reception took place at the very beautiful and classically English Caswell House in the Cotswolds. I’m always super excited by a bride in a tea-length dress as I had one myself (easier for dancing!), and Ally’s was just gorgeous and suited her to a T.

We met Jessica and Sandeep in a local burger restaurant when they were searching for their wedding photographer. The plan was for a Hindu ceremony in the Cotswolds, preceded by a small civil ceremony the week before. As time went on, the plans for the English civil ceremony grew, so that Jessica could have a white dress and all the things she had always imagined at her big day. The ceremony took place at Chicheley Hall in Buckinghamshire, followed by a reception on family land, surrounded by the great outdoors.
There is so much we love about this wedding; Jessica and Sandeep never stop smiling (really), the personal details at the reception that really showed how much effort family and friends had put in to make the day so special for the couple, and the anticipation of the Indian ceremony just four days later, made it one of our favourites.

Countryside Weddings, Wedding
This felt like the perfect wedding to share on such a rainy Friday. Sarah and Stuart got married on August bank holiday. It meant a road trip for us from London to Devon, where we found the sun shining! The entire event was held at the Kingston Estate, in Staverton, near Totnes. The Georgian House venue was incredible and the weather kind enough for the ceremony to be held in the beautiful grounds – it even held long enough for the first dance to take place in the courtyard, under the moon and fairy lights. It was a perfect day – any wedding that includes hay bales and blankets gets the thumbs up from us.

This summer (remember that?!), Sofya + Jamie had an intimate wedding ceremony at the Mayfair Library in London for close friends and family. It was such a sweet, colourful affair – from Sofya’s floral headdress and dusky-pink knee-length lace dress, to the retro bunting, Mexican piñata, old school photos and dressing up hats at The Stag where the reception was held afterwards. Here are our favourite shots…

Last year, an old pal got in touch to say he was getting married and could we do the pictures. Of course the answer was yes, but the ‘yes’ was made even sweeter than usual by the fact it meant a trip to sunny Cyprus, where Jukka and Lucia live. We made a holiday out of the trip and stayed a week and we met and got to know Lucia as well as many other terrific people – it was not only a special wedding which we felt privileged to attend, but thanks to all the lovely folk we met, it made for a pretty special holiday too.
Set in the mountain side at the Minthis Hills Golf Club, the ceremony took place at the site’s old Monastery which contrasted beautifully with the reception venue; the modern, light-filled Clubhouse. The wedding had so many fun elements – the coming together of families and friends from different cultures (Jukka is Finnish while Lucia is from Slovakia and they met in London), sunshine, gold buggies, Blue Steel pouts, speeches in multiple languages, a guitar playing groom (My Sharona and Enter Sandman will never be the same again!) not to mention a BBQ to end all BBQs the following day.
Congratulations again guys, we’ve loved picking out this series of photos and reliving the day! Laura and Dan x

Well, 2014 was certainly a whirlwind! Our year was jam-packed with absolutely beautiful weddings, and we felt so lucky to have been a part of each and every one – it has been such a privilege. Before 2015 kicks off with our first wedding in a couple of weeks, we wanted to share a round up of 2014 with some of our favourite shots – a great big thanks to all of the brides, grooms, friends and families for the excellent content! Lots of love and best wishes to all of them for the new year – and to all those due to get married this year too! Laura and Dan xx

Jane and Andrew had a relaxed, informal wedding at their local registry office in Hertford, and then celebrated with an English tea party themed party in their back garden… and this is no ordinary garden. Their unique venue gave them the ability to decorate to their heart’s content – full of twists, turns, different zones and wobbly paths, it was the perfect setting.
There were so many little touches it is hard to describe them all – hopefully the photos do this – but some of our favourite bits were the stable bar, the wardrobe of pashminas for the ladies once it got chilly, the window sills of the house crammed full of blooms (Jane is a florist and did all the flowers herself), the illustration portrait booth (amazing!), the picnic baskets monogrammed with their last initials which were used for the kid’s meals and finally, the band who were fantasticly atmospheric, playing underneath the trees as the sun went down.
Wedding
A couple of years ago Jamie and I met when she left her job to start her own wedding dress label, Margaret Wray. Jamie creates beautiful vintage inspired gowns and one off pieces with a contemporary finish – she hunts for vintage lace, detailing and jewellery to make each piece truly unique, and works from her studio in the heart of Kings Cross.
We created her branding, stationery and this week saw the launch of the eagerly awaited website! Over the next few months we’ll be photographing the dresses and she’ll be updating samples from her collection. Margaret Wray is the perfect option for brides want to go on a personal journey to prepare for their big day; Jamie invests enormous time and energy to ensure the experience is collaborative, inspiring and above all fun! If you’re looking for something personal and unique, get in touch.

Family Photoshoots
Ellie approached us with the idea of a family photoshoot to celebrate her dad’s 60th birthday, at his urban allotment in Caledonian Road, London. Urban vs nature is one of our favourite photographic subjects, stemming from many student projects rooting around forgotten, overgrown car dumping grounds and delapidated power stations. So off Dan went!
Warning: contains seasonal veg, oodles of sister love and a ridiculously cute baby…

I love digital. Amazing quality, accessing your photos straight away, not holding back on quantity of shots, being able to share across the globe moments after the shot has been taken. All wonderful, and very necessary in today’s world, especially if you do a job like Dan does!
I love analogue. The level of control is removed, you have no idea if it’s going to come out right – or at all – you have to wait a week to get the rolls of film back to find out. But, it’s so exciting.
Luckily, today we can find a happy medium and have the best of both worlds. I just got the below shots back from the shop – they were taken on a road trip in America with our friends back in May this year. My favourites are the double exposures where I mixed together two subjects with opposing textures. Now I’m wondering how this kind of thing might work at a wedding… Enjoy 🙂

There are few better ways to spend your weekend than witnessing friends getting married. When one of them is someone you’ve known since childhood it’s even better – it’s a great milestone to add to years and years of happy memories. When they have their wedding in Devon and you have a long weekend away with all your closest friends, it’s off the chart.
There are no two people better suited than Matt and Alice – they have the same sense of humour, appetite for the great outdoors and they met while both studying medicine. We certainly had a day of sophistication and elegance – the venue (Shilstone House), the food, the beautiful bride in her beautiful dress – but we think those in attendance will have come away with memories of uncontrollable giggling, a few rude jokes and Alice’s fantastically dry, tongue-in-cheek speech about what it is to become a wife. Top that off with a dance floor that buzzed all night, more bunting than we thought was humanly possible for one person to make (Alice’s mum should set up shop!) and a tower of delicious, locally-sourced cheese, and it certainly was one of the most enjoyable weddings yet.
Congratulations guys, we think the world of you both, and thank you – we’ve had the best time reliving the day through these pictures and hope you have too.
Laura and Dan xx
Family Photoshoots
Leo and Jemima are two of the coolest people we know. Their giggles and playfulness is infectious – being around them is super fun, and super exhausting! Capturing these guys on camera is something that happens regularly, being our niece and nephew and all… but when we were asked to do a proper family shoot on a boiling hot summer’s day we jumped at the chance. Here’s some of our favourites from the day.
